Meet the Sherp all-terrain vehicle (ATV): The Russian truck that's so tough it can drive straight through a forest, crushing everything in its path, and even ford a frozen river — without even flinching... Do you and one friend need to go anywhere — right now? You'll need the Sherp ATV. It's a two-passenger, diesel-powered wilderness-squasher with patented self-inflating tires... With those massive chunks of rubber at each corner, and nearly encompassing the entire side of the truck, the Sherp can easily roll over obstacles as big as 27.5 inches tall. Though, I suspect that's a conservative estimate. If there's anything conservative about this thing, that is... Although it has a small 1.5-liter diesel engine that produces a minuscule 44 horsepower, the Sherp weighs about as much as a Toyota Corolla, so it's just enough to get it up to its 28 mph top speed on land. On water it'll do 3.7 mph. While not much, that's a lot more than the aforementioned Corolla can do on water... Here's the part where you expect me to tell you that you won't be able to buy one. Wrong! $65,000 will get you the pickup Sherp with a canvas top. For $70,000, however, you can get the fully enclosed hardtop. If you do buy and anticipate icy water crossings, I recommend the hardtop. There's nothing more embarrassing than getting frostbite from behind the wheel of your Russian adventure-mobile...

NY,USA -The Detroit News, by Larry Edsall -July 11, 2013: -- By combining the concepts of bookmobile and food truck, book-publisher Penguin Group (USA) recently introduced its first mobile bookstore. And just like a good book, there’s a bonus inside: the Penguin Book Pushcart, which rolls out of the truck and down a ramp to make books even more accessible... “The Penguin Classics people had a (promotional) car, a Mini Cooper, they launched a couple of years ago,” said Penguin Group (USA) publicist Erica Glass, who explained that the Mini Cooper’s tour helped bring attention to the book-publishing brand... “Thinking back to the popularity of bookmobiles, and the popularity now of food trucks, it sort of all came together,” she added...

Venice,Italy -Wired Magazine, by Aaron Rowe -November 1, 2011:   ...   an italian who likes American trucks. A lot...   He spent nine months to built a 3-foot-tall remote-controlled facsimile that’s accurate down to the miniature blue-and-gold vintage  California license plate. Bordin’s 400-pound iron and fiberglass replica looks and sounds utterly authentic. Hundreds of LEDs light up the cab. A nightclub-style fog maker puffs faux exhaust out of twin smokestacks. A pair of speakers emit a rumble worthy of a 400-horsepower engine, while a mini compressor pumps out air at 145 psi to re-create two distinct types of horn blasts. The 750-watt electric motor is even strong enough to tow an actual Nissan Patrol GR SUV. Bordin is now putting the finishing touches on an A/V system for the 16-foot-long Nascar-branded trailer. When completed, the trailer will open to reveal a 22-inch LCD and a speaker array that Bordin can fire up with his remote control...   Dieci-quattro, good buddy  ...

The Rotel rolls a coach and hotel into one unit (or for larger groups, a bus and tag-along sleeping quarters)...

By day passengers sit in the front of the coach and take in all the sights, and by night they adjourn to the rear of the vehicle to enjoy their semi-private sleeping quarters...

The 50-year-old German company Rotel Tours operates these coaches in many countries around the world and appeal to budget-conscious travelers who want to see the sights but don’t like “roughing it” too much … a soft bed, solid walls to keep out the beasties, etc. The Rotel holidays are described by the organizers as journeys for active people, regardless of age.

In all, the company’s fleet of vehicles comprises 3,400 beds and caters to groups of 20-40 adults – vehicles can be upsized or downsized depending on the number of intrepid travelers.

These all-in-one tours aren’t physically demanding trips, though they encourage walks and hikes during your holiday.

Typically, the coaches are custom-modified Mercedes 0404's which feature 24 passenger seats and 26 sleeping berths (an extra one for the driver and tour guide).

While the Rotel rooms are only 3ft high, they are wide enough to deliver passengers a comfortable night’s sleep as long as you don't measure much more than the bed's length of 6ft. Though the lack of showers and bathing facilities may test you if you were expecting five-star luxury, the Rotel does include an extensive drop-down "camp kitchen" and a single toilet. The coaches also stop whenever possible at campgrounds with bathing facilities to ensure the passengers don't become too funky.

Rotels operate in Africa, Europe and Asia with the company saying it chooses the best places to stay, usually in campsites and sometimes with an occasional stay-over in hotels or lodges. It admits its drawcards are nights spent in the quiet of the deserts, the wilds of Patagonia or camps in the Serengeti.

The Rotel travel programs are designed to allow plenty of time for sightseeing, relaxing, a little walking and leisure programs...

AtkiPete Lynch has been out and about with his camera and has sent these in for the Biglorryblog Sunday Supplement. "A few shots of Doolans Heavy Haulage of Moorabbin out and about this Sunday" he says.

I think the driver's just popped out for a cup of tea here Pete!. " They were moving three narrow gauge locos to the Bellarine Peninsula railway down at Queenscliff. I thought Doolans was mainly a Kenworth fleet and was surprised to see a big Volvo leading the pack.

Dusseldorf,Germany -Gizmag, by Darren Quick -September 2, 2009 : -- Running the risk of being mistaken for another pavilion at the recent Caravan Salon Motor Home and Caravan Trade Show in Dusseldorf was the Snakeliner President-Suite – a mobile house sitting atop a semitrailer that lets travelers satisfy their wanderlust while enjoying 969 sq ft (90m²) of living space...



The President-Suite, (which we’re assuming should be the Presidential Suite but is a victim of poor translation), measures 18m (59 ft) long and 2.5m (8.2 ft) wide - not including the driver’s cabin. But if that wasn’t big enough, both sides can be extended outward a further 1.125m (3.7ft) to make it 5m (16.4 ft) wide when fully set up...



And it isn’t just the size that makes this mobile behemoth feel like a house. Interior fittings such as the granite dining room table give a feel that isn’t at all lightweight and 'motorhomey'. Other lavish interior features include a big screen TV in every room, a king-size waterbed, washing machine, drier, satellite Internet, central heating system, sound proofing, remote-controlled door and fire extinguishing system...



On the outside the President-Suite boasts electric window shades, steel-reinforced door, thermo glass, and water and sewage tank. However, if you’re still not satisfied you can request optional extras such as an additional story, granite floors, garage for a vehicle, cellar for a motorboat and a helicopter-landing site!



Although the nominal price for the President-Suite is EUR€650,000 (approx. USD$922,825 at time of publication), the high levels of customization Snakeliner offers means that the price could vary by hundreds of thousands of dollars. Not exactly one for the budget traveler in any case...

Dekotara which is a short for Decoration Trucks (Deko-tora) are flamboyant designed trucks are called with excessive glowing lights and designs designed to attract attention...





Dekotora trucks usually show the personality of the Dekotara owner and are sometimes also referred to as Art Trucks...



There are three styles for Dekotora trucks, Kanto, Kansai and Retro. Since the late 1990s, Dekotora have been heavily influenced by the art of Gundam...



In addition to the Gundam-influenced designs, it is common to see decorations that are more akin to modern art, or even retro designs that closely resemble those found in the movie Trucker...

Of various scence from Chinese road transport. starting with the truck that doesn't neeed a cab... Just as well really and heaven kinows how he steers that thing as the wheel appears to have been punched out of alignment in the original smash...
