TRYING TO CUT THE TRUCKING BROKER * USA: But “We can work with all of them” ...

* Virginia - ScoopMonkey lets freight professionals post reviews, ratings on its website

-- A Chesterfield County company is trying to improve the trucking industry by using cyberspace tools... ScoopMonkey wants to be the transportation industry’s version of Yelp. The website offers a way for professionals in the industry to post reviews and ratings for carriers and the brokers who connect them with the businesses that have products to ship. There is some information online that can help carriers and brokers make better decisions. For instance, the federal government maintains and publishes information on licensing, safety and inspections of trucking companies through the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Peloke said some startups are trying to cut out the middleman — the broker — by connecting the shipper directly with the carrier, but he is skeptical. “We can work with all of them” ...
