* California - Mack Pinnacle to feature mDrive transmission as standard equipment

San Diego,CAL,USA -The Trucker, by CLIFF ABBOTT -7 July 2014: -- Mack Trucks North American's Pinnacle model now comes with the Mack mDrive transmission as a standard feature... The mDrive is a 12-speed “automated manual” transmission that is controlled via a dash-mounted shift pad. An integrated display indicates the current gear, while a separate display, located in the vehicle’s instrument panel, shows the number of up or down shifts available, the current gear and the current operating mode... The tractor is also equipped with Mack Stability Advantage from Bendix, along with the Bendix Wingman Advanced adaptive cruise control that integrates throttle, engine brake and foundation brakes into the cruise-control function.The Share the Road program dispatches drivers who have exemplary safety records to conduct safe driving demonstrations for students, motorists and other groups...


* California - Daimler introduces proprietary safety systems called Detroit Assurance

With Detroit Assurance, customers can — for the first time — fully integrate their Detroit powertrain and safety system, resulting in a higher level of safety and performance, according to Martin Daum, DTNA’s president and CEO... DTNA is the first truck OEM to design and offer a proprietary suite of safety systems. Until now, commercial vehicle safety systems were produced only by Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems or Meritor WABCO...
