* Michigan - EcoDiesel 2014 Ram 1500 earns 28 MPG rating 

Auburn Hills,MICH,USA -Business Fleet -4 Feb 2014: -- The EcoDiesel-powered 2014 Ram 1500 has earned a 28-mpg rating from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), according to Chrysler. This rating exceeds the EPA highway rating for the top-ranked small pickup... These results mean Ram keeps the half-ton fuel-economy record set last year by the 2013 Ram 1500, says Chrysler. Equipped with a 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 gasoline engine, the truck earned 25 mpg highway, a rating that stands for model-year 2014... According to Chrysler, the EcoDiesel is the first and only advanced-technology turbo-diesel offering in the half-ton pickup segment. It also delivers torque of 420 lbs.-ft...


* Michigan - Chevy targets small businesses with City Express van

Detroit,MICH,USA -The Detroit News, by Melissa Burden -February 6, 2014: -- General Motors Co. will debut Thursday at the Chicago Auto Show its 2015 Chevrolet City Express small van and a version of the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado HD that runs on compressed natural gas or gasoline... Chevy expects the City Express to be popular with small-business owners. The van is based on the Nissan NV200, but looks “entirely Chevrolet” from the front. But there are more differences between the two: The Chevy comes with standard tie-down straps, side glass options and more interior lighting. It has 122.7 cubic feet of cargo space... Chevy and Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. announced in May 2013 that Chevy had contracted with Nissan to build the van in Mexico...


* Oregon - Daimler's DT12 transmission now available with DD16 engine

Portland,ORE,USA -Truck News(CAN)-5 Feb 2014: -- Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) has announced its Detroit DT12 automated mechanical transmission is now available with the DD16 engine in Freightliner Cascadia trucks... Both sleeper and day cab Cascadias can be spec’d with the DT12/DD16 pairing, which covers all horsepower and torque ratings available from Detroit engines, the company announced... The DT12 when mated to the DD16 offers a dual plate clutch to handle the big bore power of the 15.6-litre engine. The transmission will only be offered with overdrive gearing...


* South Carolina - Western Star adds Allison 4700 RDS
