* DC - Chrysler to recall 140,000 vehicles for electrical glitches
Washington,DC,USA -The Detroit News, by David Shepardson -October 1, 2013: -- Chrysler Group LLC will recall more than 140,000 new SUVs and trucks to upgrade software to fix electrical glitches... The Auburn Hills automaker said it will recall 132,000 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs worldwide to address reports of random warning-light illumination and instrument-cluster blackout... Chrysler will also recall 10,800 2014 Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 trucks — most of which are in dealer hands — to upgrade software that controls instrument-cluster illumination...
* Washington - Tesla says Model S fire began in battery; stock dips
Seattle,WASH,USA -Associated Press/The Detroit News, by Mike Baker -October 2, 2013: -- Shares of electric car company Tesla sank more than 6 percent Wednesday after an Internet video showed flames spewing from one of the company’s vehicles near Seattle... The incident happened Tuesday after 8 a.m. as the driver was traveling through Kent, Wash., said Trooper Chris Webb of the Washington State Patrol. The driver said he believed he had struck some metal debris on the freeway, so he exited the highway and the vehicle became disabled... Tesla said the flames were contained to the front of the $70,000 car. Late Wednesday night, Tesla said the fire began in the vehicle’s battery...
