* Germany - BMW 5-Series and M5 recalled for electrical problem
Munich,BAV,Germany -The Car Connection, by Richard Read -Sep 20, 2013: -- BMW has issued a voluntary recall of 528i, 535i, 550i, and M5 vehicles from the 2008, 2009, and 2010 model years. According to a bulletin posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the recall affects 134,100 cars manufactured between March 1, 2007 and December 31, 2009... The recall stems from an electrical problem in those cars -- specifically, the electrical system that powers the lights at the rear of the vehicle, including the tail, brake, turn-signal, and reverse lights. The ground terminal and housing associated with that system may become damaged over time, meaning that the lights may occasionally go on the fritz. And as you might imagine, when an important item like the brake light fails to work, accidents can easily follow...
* DC / USA - Toyota recalls 615,000 Sienna Minivans for roll-wway issue
Washington,DC,USA -The Car Connection, by Suzanne Kane -Sep 27, 2013: -- Toyota is conducting a voluntary safety recall of certain 2004-2005 and 2007 through 2009 Toyota Sienna minivans to fix a problem involving the shift lever assembly... In a statement, Toyota said that “because of the potential for damage to the shift lock solenoid installed in involved vehicles, there is a possibility that the shift lever could be moved out of the “P” position without the driver depressing the brake pedal” ... This condition could result in a vehicle roll-away...
* DC / USA - 2006-2010 Infiniti M35, M45 recalled to fix electrical problem
Washington,DC,USA -The Car Connection,by Suzanne Kane -Sep 29, 2013: -- Nissan is recalling certain 2006 through 2010 model year Infiniti M35 and M45 luxury sedans to address an electrical problem that could cause the engine to stop unexpectedly... A notice on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website puts the number of vehicles potentially affected by the safety recall at 98,300. Affected vehicles were built from April 4, 2004 through October 5, 2010... According to the NHTSA bulletin and documentation submitted by Nissan, over time, the accelerator pedal sensor signal may deteriorate, “resulting in the output of an incorrect signal causing the engine to go into fail-safe (limp home) mode” ...
* DC / USA - 2009-2013 Mazda6 recalled for door latch issue
Washington,DC,USA -The Car Connection, by Suzanne Kane -Sep 29, 2013: -- Mazda is recalling certain 2009 through 2013 model year Mazda 6 cars to fix a problem with door latch mounting screws that could come loose... A notice on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website puts the number of vehicles potentially affected by the recall at 161,400. Affected vehicles were built from February 4, 2008 through August 24, 2012...
