* Austria - Oil change leads to 189,000 dollar annual saving

Zettling,Austria -Transport Engineer, by John Challen -18 September 2013: -- Austrian haulage firm Frikus has moved to an extended oil-drain interval of its 400 Mercedes-Benz trucks and, at the same time, reduced fuel consumption, following trials of Shell Rimula R6 LME... Shell Lubricants' technical team undertook used oil and fuel analysis to demonstrate that the trucks' oil-drain interval could be extended without compromising engine protection... As a result, Frikus technicians were able to increase its trucks' oil-drain interval from 40,000km to 80,000km. They have also since seen a reduction in fuel consumption of 1.2%... Additionally, the company is putting reduced maintenance costs, and greater flexibility in its maintenance and operation schedules... These reductions have given the company a reported total annual saving of $189,000... The trucks, which run on biofuel, are used for long-distance international, as well as short-distance and inner-city duties...
