Portland,ORE,USA -CCJ -July 31, 2013: -- The natural gas-powered Freightliner Cascadia will soon be available in a 48-inch sleeper cab option, the truck maker announced this week. The tractor will be available with either compressed natural gas or liquified natural gas tanks and will be equipped with the Cummins Westport ISX12 G heavy-duty natural gas engine, with ratings up to 400hp and 1,450 lb-ft torque. Several fuel tank options are available, Freightliner says: Up to 190 diesel gallon equivalent (DGE) capacity for CNG, and up to 300 gallon (140 DGE) capacity LNG, with an anticipated fill-range of more than 800 miles...

Eisenstein -July 31, 2013: -- Ford will offer the 2014 F-150 with the ability to run on compressed natural gas, making Ford the only manufacturer with an available CNG/LPG-capable ... Until now, Ford had relied on aftermarket converters to service the relatively few customers who have wanted to run their vehicles on compressed natural gas, or CNG. But the automaker will offer a CNG option on its half-ton, or light-duty, pickup later this year. Buyers will be able to order the F-150 truck fueled by either natural gas, or LPG -- liquefied petroleum gas, which comprises propane, butane or a mix of the two...

Bellevue,WA,USA -The Seattle Times/Business Week/McClatchy-Tribune -23 July 2013: -- Truck maker Paccar's net income slipped 1.8 percent in the second quarter, but investors took it in stride... The Bellevue company's shares were up almost 1 percent in early trading at $58.14, after opening at a 52-week high of $60... The company Tuesday reported earnings of $291.6 million, or 82 cents per share, compared to $297.2 million, or $.83 per diluted share, in the year-earlier period...

Milwaukee,WIS,USA -Associated Press/sheboyganpress - Aug. 1, 2013: -- Automatic federal budget cuts could delay the replacement of military Humvees, a valuable contract bid on by truck-maker Oshkosh Corp. and worth thousands of jobs... Defense Secretary, Chuck Hagel, outlined a plan Wednesday for what might happen if the Pentagon has to cut more than $50 billion from the 2014 budget and $500 billion over the next 10 years as a result of the automatic spending cuts that began taking effect earlier this year. One program at risk could be the replacement of 55,000 military Humvee... Marine Corps Commandant Gen., James Amos, recently told Inside Defense magazine that his top priority was an amphibious combat vehicle that would replace a design used since the early 1970s and he was "not willing to die in a ditch" over the Humvee replacement if the budget cuts continued. With the price of the Humvee replacement, called Joint Light Tactical Vehicles or JLTV, rising from an original $250,000 per vehicle to up to $400,000, the Marines have an added incentive to abandon the program, Hasik said... 


* New Jersey - Mitsubishi Fuso adds supreme step-in body

Logan Township,NJ,USA -Transport Topics -30 July 2013: -- Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America is partnering with body maker Supreme Corp. to make that company’s StepSaver body available on the Canter FE series line of cabover trucks... Mitsubishi Fuso spokesperson, Tragear Joshua told Light amd Medium Truck that the body’s low step-in and door design was borne from the need to design bodies that account for selective catalytic reduction emissions systems found along the side of the truck. Passenger-side roll-up and pocket-style door are available... The StepSaver will be available through Mitsubishi Fuso dealers throughout the U.S., the truck maker said...
