* Illinois - Navistar introduces product enhancements for construction vehicles

Warrensville,ILL,USA -Fleet Owner -Feb. 6, 2013: -- Navistar International is showing a number of new enhancements to its International brand truck models for the construction industry as well as a full line of mixer products from its Continental Mixers division. The vehicles are on display this week at the World of Concrete show in Las Vegas... Navistar is showing its International WorkStar model with its 13L engine with Cummins SCR aftertreatment. The engine will be available in the WorkStar model in May, the company said... Navistar is also showing off its WorkStar vocational tractor with 54,000-lb, GVW rating. The tractor also includes a vocational bumper, set-back (46-in.) 4x2/6x4 application configurations, 120,000 psi frame rails, Meritor 14,000-lb. front suspension, Meritor 40,000-lb. rear axle with IROS, and Eaton Fuller UltraShift Plus 10-spd. automated manual transmission...


* Michigan - Chrysler launches specialized work vans

Hoffman -February 7, 2013: -- Chrysler Group LLC is getting back into the work van business today, unveiling its new Ram ProMaster line based on the Fiat Ducato — one of the best-selling commercial vehicles in Europe... Chrysler's designers and engineers have tweaked the Fiat design to meet the needs of the American market. But the company's Mopar division is taking that even further by offering special versions of the van pre-equipped with the tools needed by different trades... For example, customers will be able to order a package for heating-and-cooling contractors that will arrive from the factory with everything from a roof-mounted ladder rack to built in parts-storage bins. Or they can pick a package for delivery services that includes a cargo partition and tie-downs, rear-window guards, backup camera and a remote monitoring system that can alert fleet managers if the van's driver speeds or leaves a predefined work area...


* Illinois - Toyota Tundra's first redesign in years promises 'high-tech' look

Chicago,ILL,USA -The Detroit News, by David Shepardson -February 8, 2013: -- Toyota Motor Corp. unveiled its refreshed 2014 Tundra here Thursday in the increasingly competitive pickup truck market... But the new Tundra faces a big hurdle: Pickup buyers are among the most loyal in the auto industry and it's hard to pry the keys out a Chevy, Ford or Ram pickup owner and convince them to swap them for a new brand... The 2014 Tundra shown at the Chicago Auto Show has fancier interiors and new exterior styling with a higher hood, a new tailgate, and more trim levels — including separate top trim level for urban and heartland buyers... Engineered by the Toyota Technical Center in Ann Arbor, it will be built in San Antonio and will go on sale in September...


* Oregon - Roll stability control now available on Western Star trucks 

Portland,ORE,USA -Fleet Owner -Feb. 8, 2013: -- Western Star Trucks is making the Meritor Wabco roll stability control system (RSC) available on truck models. The system is available on 4700, 4800 and 4900 models equipped with Meritor’s anti-lock braking system... RSC assists drivers in maintaining vehicle control by monitoring road conditions and automatically intervening when a rollover risk is detected. When the RSC system senses an impending slide or roll-over, it slows truck speed by reducing engine torque and engaging the engine retarder while automatically applying drive axle and trailer brakes. Once the risk has passed, the RSC system resumes normal vehicle operation, allowing the driver to regain control of the truck, Western Star said...
