The silver 2013 Honda Accord EX-L Sedan will be shipped to South Korea... Within two years, Honda will become a “net exporter” of automobiles from North America – exporting more vehicles built in its auto plants in North America than it imports from Japan – as these local production operations take on a larger responsibility for the introduction of global automobiles sold in multiple countries... Since 1987, Honda has exported more than $22 billion worth of automobiles and components from the U.S. This includes its exports of finished vehicles as well as component parts sets from suppliers in the U.S. that are used to produce automobiles at Honda plants overseas...

The Fusion is a mainstream, midsize car offered with hybrid and plug-in powertrain options and all the premium bells and whistles offered on top-of-the-line cars... The Fusion plug-in hybrid gets 47 mpg city and 47 mpg highway... The days when fuel efficiency was the sole domain of spartan little cars are gone...
* Michigan - Some Ford hybrid drivers find getting 47 mpg elusive
(Photo from Ford: The 2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid achieved 37 miles per gallon in Consumer Reports’ testing, 10 mpg less than the EPA estimate. The Fusion Hybrid, which also claims 47 mpg, came in at 39 mpg in real life. Ford said estimates for hybrids are variable and depend on driving speeds)
Dearborn,MICH,USA -The Detroit News, by KARL HENKEL -December 7, 2012: -- Ford Motor Co.'s new C-Max Hybrid has some of the best attributes in its vehicle class: It gets a government-estimated 47 miles per gallon in the city and on the highway, can travel as fast as 62 miles per hour in electric-only mode and is the most affordable hybrid in its class... But some drivers, particularly those who don't live in crowded coastal areas or in bustling cities, find the Environmental Protection Agency estimates to be unattainable... Fans on Ford's C-Max Facebook page have panned the car for not achieving anywhere close to 47 miles per gallon. And Consumer Reports on Thursday said the car's fuel efficiency fell 10 miles per gallon short in testing — getting 37 miles per gallon overall, with 35 mpg for city driving and 38 mpg highway.Ford's Fusion Hybrid, certified for the same 47 mpg, got 39 mpg in testing overall, with 35 mpg city and 41 mpg highway...

Toyota's full-size sedan, due in dealerships next month, will be its first vehicle conceived, engineered and built in the U.S....The dramatically styled machine with decidedly more capable driving dynamics is a hint of Toyotas to come. First sketched at Toyota's Calty Design Research in California, its exterior and interior were finalized along with all of its engineering at the Toyota Technical Center in Ann Arbor... It is built in Kentucky with 80 percent domestic parts, and it isn't being exported to Japan or Europe, where almost nobody buys full-size cars... This Avalon drives nothing like the previous model. It doesn't float down the road. Its suspension is taut. Its exterior is striking. Its interior is appointed with the latest technology and quality materials... The six-speed automatic transmission actually downshifts with rev-matching rpm blips...

* DC - BMW recalls X5 SUVs for steering problem
Washington,DC,USA -Associated Press/The Detroit News -December 6, 2012: -- BMW is recalling nearly 250,000 X5 SUVs worldwide because a bolt can break and cause the loss of power-assisted steering... The recall affects X5 xDrive 35d models with diesel engines from the 2009 through 2012 model years... The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the bolt holding a belt pulley can loosen and break. If that happens the SUVs can lose power-assisted steering, increasing the risk of a crash. If the bolt breaks, the SUVs still have manual steering, but it takes far more effort to turn the wheel, especially at low speeds... So far no crashes or injuries have been reported from the problem in the U.S. and Canada. A BMW U.S. spokesman said he did not know if there were any crashes in other parts of the world...

More than 620,000 vans could have the problem. It was traced to bits of plastic getting caught in headlight switches. The problem worsens as the vehicles get older, and can be fixed by turning the headlights on and off... The government says Chrysler is offering a lifetime warranty on the switches and will replace them for free when people start to have problems...
