* Italy - Eurotire radials fitted to Perlini dump trucks in Brazil

San Bonifacio, Verona, Italy -Tyre Press -13 Nov 2012: -- Italian truck manufacturer, Perlini Equipment SpA has delivered the first 14 of its 90 ton dump trucks fitted with Eurotire rubber from its manufacturing facility in Drobeta Turnu Severin, Romania to the Brazilian port of Santos. The partnership between the two companies is part of a joint program created to promote Eurotire products and Perlini machines. One of the largest steel makers in Latin America, Usiminas will use the trucks at its iron ore mining operations...


 * India - Volvo to invest Rs 3,800 cr in 

Bangalore, Karnataka,India -Business Standard, by Praveen Bose -Nov 15, 2012: -- Swedish truck, bus and earth moving equipment maker Volvo AB on Tuesday announced its plans to invest Rs 3,800 crore in India over the next few years... Of this, Rs 1,800 crore will be invested in its joint venture with Eicher Motors Ltd, the rest of the investment will go into the company's own operations... Volvo has strong operations in the bus segment in India supplying it low-floor buses to various State government transport department and private service carriers... 


* South Africa - UD Trucks’ new Quon range ready

Rosslyn,Pretoria, SA -Informanté -7 Nov 2012: -- Years of meticulous global research and development has lead UD Trucks Southern Africa to launch the new generation Quon Extra Heavy Commercial Vehicle Range (EHCV)... The 17 different models in the range have always been designed and developed as smart workers, according to the manufacturers. Tailor-made for the challenging African road and operating conditions, the models launched locally are also a combination of extensive customer feedback and local engineering trials, they said last month... The new generation Quon range supports environment-friendly technology; high levels of intelligence; ease of maintenance and operation as well as improved fuel economy and reduced emissions. All models in the range are fitted with the GH13 series engine, which is a 13-litre in-line 6-cylinder turbo-intercooled engine...


 * South Africa - 1 millon kilometers Isuzu wins owner trip to USA

Port Elizabeth,Eastern Cape, SA -Truck and Bus -7 Nov 2012: -- Thousands of entries were received from Isuzu fans across South Africa unearthing a number of very special bakkies that demonstrate the toughness and durability of these vehicles... The winning Isuzu bakkie with the highest mileage had 1 004 000 km on the clock and is still going strong. The vehicle, owned by Mr Douglas Smith from the Eastern Cape, is a 1997 Isuzu KB which has had a hard working life in the 15 years since it left the Kempston Road plant in Port Elizabeth. Smith is the vehicle’s second owner and uses it mainly on his farm and for anything else that needs to get delivered... 


 * South Africa - IVECO in joint venture with Larimar Group

Pretoria,Gauteng, SA -Truck and Bus -1 Nov 2012: -- The new company (Newco), in which Iveco will hold 60% of the shares, will operate in a manufacturing facility in the suburbs of Pretoria with an annual capacity of 7000 trucks and 1000 buses, and a workforce of around 1000 employees. The Newco will assemble light, medium and heavy duty commercial vehicles as well as front engine and low floor city buses. Production will start in the second half of 2013 with the Eurocargo range... The trucks will be commercialised by Iveco South Africa to the entire southern African region, through its existing distribution network, whereas the buses will be distributed directly by the joint venture...
