* UK - Consumers value transport sector
London,EN,UK -HGVUK -November 5, 2012: -- With an overwhelming 96% of consumers agreeing that the road transport sector is important to the UK economy, continuing to improve safety and skills within the sector is of paramount importance... According to a recent survey on behalf of the Commercial Vehicle Forum 2012, road safety is still a significant concern to the general public. When asked specifically what dangers commercial vehicles posed, the majority of respondents (29%) were deeply concerned with the perceived poor driving ability of foreign truck drivers... Other concerns were excessive speed (17%) and poor driving or lack of awareness from truck drivers in general (16%). The same question posed to transport industry professionals again confirmed fears of driving standards among foreign drivers (40%) while a lack of awareness from other road users was the greatest danger for 33% of respondents... The survey went on to ask which other road user groups caused trepidation, with consumers expressing concern about motorbikes and cyclists (19% and 11% respectively) and those within the transport sector troubled by cyclists (30%) and pedestrians (24%)...
* Germany - Supplier ZF sees truck market slump running into 2103
Berlin,Germany -Reuters, by Andreas Cremer/John Stonestreet -Nov 6, 2012: -- German automotive supplier ZF Friedrichshafen expects an accelerating downturn in European truck markets to keep weighing on the company's business... Sales of technology to commercial vehicle manufacturers account for about a fifth of ZF's revenue, which it expects to increase to over 17 billion euros ($21.7 billion) this year... Sales of heavy-duty trucks weighing 16 tons or more slumped 14.8 percent across the 27-nation European Union in September, for a year-to-date decline of 7.7 percent... ZF expects "strong demand" for luxury passenger cars in North America and China to persist next year...

Code EN 12642 is the European standard for trailer body structure and load securing and according to SFT, a pre requisite when negotiating transport contracts across Europe... The company operates 17 tractor units, 18 Profi Liners and two tankers. The Profi Liners are Euro Liner style with sliding roofs for top loading...
* UK - Terberg unveils Kinglifter truck-mounted forklifts

* UK - FreshLinc chooses Gray & Adams semi-trailers
Wardentree Park,Lincolnshire,UK -HGV UK -November 6, 2012: -- Refrigerated distribution specialist FreshLinc is cutting its fuel costs and reducing its carbon emissions after joining a Government-backed trial of longer semi-trailers. Gray and Adams has just supplied the Lincolnshire-based operator with a clutch of insulated 14.6m trailers which are fitted with Carrier Vector dual-temperature refrigeration units and BPW self-steer axles that allow them to meet turning circle requirements... The new trailers can each carry 28 pallets, two more than FreshLinc’s standard, 13.6m units...
