* Missouri - Con-way Truckload boosts driver pay, changes wait time compensation

Joplin,MO,USA -Fleet Owner -Oct. 8, 2012: -- Con-way Truckload is boosting driver pay $0.01 per mile for both company drivers and owner-operators. The truckload subsidiary of Con-way Inc. is also cutting the amount of time a driver must wait before receiving detention pay... Detention pay will now be issued to drivers who must wait two hours at a customer’s loading dock. That is a decrease from the current three-hour wait time... Saul Gonzalez, the company’s president said, excessive detention was the number one concern mentioned by drivers in recent discussion forums...


* Georgia - Macon trucking company owner charged with trailer theft 

Macon,GA,USA -Fleet Owner, by Deborah Whistler -Oct. 8, 2012: -- Bradley K. Blackshear, the owner of Q and B Trucking of Macon, GA, was arrested and charged with stealing 21 box trailers that were discovered at the lot of a local recycling company, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s office... Metal theft investigators from the sheriff’s office found 21 stolen commercial box trailers on the property of KT Recycling, according to a news release from sheriff’s Lt. Sean DeFoe... The recovered trailers had been stolen from several counties in Georgia...
