* Germany - Volkswagen make bid for Navistar
Wolfsbrug,Germany -Servicing Stop VW -August 15, 2012 : -- Navistar International, a troubled truck American based company have been subject of a bid from Europe’s number one car producer, Volkswagen... Volkswagen is making the purchase in order to compete with Daimler trucks, who are currently ahead of them in this particular segment of the market in the United States... Volkswagen is in essence hoping to copycat that sentiment with the potential purchase of Navistar... Navistar are experiencing their worst performance on the truck market in their history... Current Volkswagen truck brands of Scania and MAN SE are not front runners by any means in North America, with a small presence. These two brands are leaders around the European region. Emerging car markets such as Brazil currently have Volkswagen’s truck brands as one of the top brands too... The North American Truck charts currently have the likes of Freightliner, Volvo, Navistar and Paccar taking advantage of the truck segment. One of the reasons has been that European truck technology simply doesn’t adapt to American needs...
* China - JAC / Navistar JV May Begin Manufacturing Engines in 2013
Anhui,China -cnanhui, by will -21 Aug 2012: -- An official unveiling ceremony for the new joint venture between Anhui automobile enterprise Jianghuai and US truck manufacturer Navistar will be held in Beijing on August 23... JAC and Navistar are investing a total of 1.8 billion yuan ($284.12m) to establish a new engine production site for the joint venture. The site, which is expected to be completed before the end of this year, will focus on producing the JAC HFC4DA1 series of diesel engines and several different Navistar MaxxForce diesel motors. It is expected to have a total annual production capacity of 150,000 engines. Production is anticipated to begin as early as next October... The joint venture, which was agreed upon in September 2010, will see the two companies cooperate in conducting research and development, producing and selling truck engines...
