* India - Cops seek makers’ help to identify stolen vehicles

Chandigarh,India -The Indian Express, by Suchet Attri -Mar 12 2012: -- In order to speed up the identification process of over 100 stolen vehicles, recovered by the ATS in the last one year, Chandigarh Police are seeking the help of vehicle manufactures... As the vehicles which were recovered are fairly new, companies are expected to have a record of certain parts with unique numbers which have been installed in the vehicles which can help in identifying them... At present only twenty out of the around 100 cars recovered by the ATS has been identified. While some have been handed back to their owners, many have yet to be identified. Police believe that majority of the owners have claimed insurance for their vehicles and are therefore not coming to take them...
