* Belgium - The FEBETRA reiterates its support for a zero blood alcohol level for drivers

Brussels,Belgium -Truck and Business, by Claude Yvens -4 Jan 2012:  --  While Melchior Wathelet, the new Secretary of State for Mobility, announced its intention to lower the permitted blood alcohol level of 0.5 per thousand to 0.2 per thousand, the FEBETRA reiterates its longstanding support for an even stricter for professional drivers, "true professionals, such as truck drivers, have an exemplary role when it comes to road safety. with an alcohol content of 0.5 g per thousand, the risk a fatal accident is 2.5 times higher than with a zero. We advocate a ban on the use of alcoholic beverages and other products with similar effects for professional drivers to service" ...
