TRUCKMAKERS' NEWS * Sweden - Scania could launch bid for MAN

Gotheborg,Sweden -HGV UK -March 9, 2011: -- Swedish truck maker Scania could launch a bid for German truck maker MAN as soon as next month, according to reports circulating in the German media... German newspapers are reporting that both truck makers are doing preparatory work ahead of a possible takeover... * Volvo's UD Trucks Unit Output Halted, Deliveries Uncertain

Stockholm,Sweden -Dow Jones (USA), by Ian Edmondson -13 March 2011: -- Production at truck maker AB Volvo's main facility in Japan will remain suspended for at least a week and deliveries from its UD Trucks unit are very uncertain, the company said Sunday...  UD Trucks' Ageo facilities in the Saitama prefecture have been damaged and the R&D building will be closed Monday while one of the furnaces in the foundry was out of order. He also warned that organized power outages in the Tokyo area would also affect production...  All employees have been accounted for and employees at UD Trucks dealers appeared to be safe though there has been severe damage to four dealers and workshops in the hard-hit Sendai region. The Volvo Group has some 9,500 employees in Japan, excluding private and independent dealers...
