TRUCKING INDUSTRY WORLDWIDE * The Netherlands - TNT posts 'good but not great' Q3 results
Hoofddorp,The Netherlands -Road Transport, by Dominic Perry -1 November 2010: -- Express carrier TNT has unveiled what it describes as "good but not great" turnover and profit for the third quarter... Group income stood at €143m, down from €179m in the same peiod last year; profit fell to €75m, down from €99m the year before... Its express division saw revenue up by 8.2% to Euro1,588m with volume growth at 9.8% against the same period last year... However, TNT, which runs the Dutch post office, warned that it was seeing continued volume declines in the mail business "at the upper end of 7%-9%" thanks to a combination of people switching to email and the first year of a fully liberalised postal market... It is pressing ahead with its plans to fully separate the express and mail operations from January 2011, it says...
* The Netherlands - Raben continues to invest in Czech Republic and Slovakia
Amsterdam,The Netherlands -Truck Europe, by Michel Buckinx -29 Oct 2010: -- Having been present on the Czech and Slovak markets for two years, Dutch logistics company Raben has further reinforced its service by taking over ownership of the Transkam company, active in the FMCG sector and specialising in the ‘dry food’ industry. Transkam employs 300 persons and has three depots in the Czech Republic and one in Slovakia. Raben employs 5,200 persons in Europe and has 485,000 m2 of depots...
* Germany - DB Schenker reorganises in Spain
Berlin,Germany -Truck Europe, by Michel Buckinx -29 Oct 2010: -- The activities of DB Schenker Logistics in Spain are now brought together under the name of DB Schenker Spain-Tir. This company covers services and products previously offered by Spain-Tir Transportes Internacionales and Schenker España. These products and services will be expanded in order to enable Spanish clients to benefit from the advantages of the DB Schenker organisation. A new logo is also planned. * France - Norbert Dentressangle seeing sustained growth
Saint-Vallier,Drôme,France -Truck Europe, by Julie Widart -29 Oct 2010: -- Consolidated turnover for Norbert Dentressangle over the first nine months of the year amounted to € 2,113 million, up by 3.2% at constant exchange rates, compared to the same period in 2009. This improvement was noted in all European countries in which the company is active. The Transport activity turned over € 1,226 million (€ 405 million during the third quarter), up by 6.9% compared to 2009, but is still recording a slight slowdown compared to the first half of the year. The Logistics turnover attained € 918 million over the nine months (€ 319 million in the third quarter), more or less in line with 2009 but making regular progress... (Image from obralia)
