TRUCKS SALES * Europe - Truck registrations continue to rise in
Brussels,Belgium -Truck Business, by Claude Yvens -26 Oct 2010: -- The month of September, the upward trend in the European market for heavy trucks confirmed: + 12.7% over 3.5 tonnes and + 20.4% over 1916 tons. The first three quarters, the trend is decreasing, but the last three months, the trend should reverse. The market is mainly drawn from Germany, France, Italy and Spain, while the British and Dutch markets have continued to decline compared to 2009...
* Europe - Minivan sales increased by 8.6%
Brussels,Belgium -Truck Business, by Stijn Phlix -26 Oct 2010: -- During the first nine months of this year registered the European Union nearly 1.1 million new light vehicles (up to 3.5 tonnes). Compared to the same period last year is an increase of 8.6%. The figures are derived from our manufacturers ACEA organization... In September 2010 were the European Union registered 141,713 new vans. That is 14.6% over the same period last year. The German, French and British each had a market increase of over 20%. In Italy sales stagnated while Spain fell by almost 3%... In our country (Belgium), in light commercial vehicles registered in September 3976. Opposite September 2009 is an increase of almost 15%. The first nine months of 2010 were 41,594 registered purchasers. Nearly 3% over the same period last year...
* UK - Currie European Transport signs up for 25 Volvo FH-500s
Heathhall Dumfries,Scotland,UK -Transport Engineer -29 Oct 2010: -- A deal to supply 25 Volvo FH-500 tractor units has been signed by the Swedish manufacturer and Currie European Transport... The contract is the largest order for heavy trucks by Currie, and comes after a Fuelwatch programme was run by Volvo Truck and Bus Centre, North & Scotland on the transport company's existing fleet... All Currie's FH-500 6x2 tractors have the Globetrotter XL cab, and are equipped with I-Shift automated transmission and Volvo Dynafleet telematics... They have also been acquired on a Volvo Flexi contract hire programme, set at a two-year term, with a break-out option at 12 months. The R&M includes tyres and annual mileages are expected to be around 160,000 km...
