Sidney,VIC,Australia -The Sidney Morning Herald, by Lucy Battersby -August 18, 2010: -- Truck drivers are pressing political parties to deliver on more rest stops, better roads, a national trucking regulator and incentives to reduce greenhouse gases... The Australian Trucking Association's chief executive, Stuart St Clair, said the highest priority for the association was driver safety achieved through better and less congested roads. About 75 per cent of domestic freight travels by truck in Australia, he said... "We need to support a strong rail system in Australia and the trucking industry supports a rail system", he said. "Infrastructure that is going to deliver better transport creates a focus on public transport to ensure that we encourage [people to leave] motor cars at home"...
