Roadcheck * USA - Places just 4.4 percent of drivers OOS
Washington,DC,USA -Land Line Magazine, by David Tanner -July 13, 2010: -- For the second straight year, just 4.4 percent of commercial drivers and 20 percent of commercial vehicles were placed out of service during the annual Roadcheck... Certified inspectors in the U.S. conducted 65,327 inspections, with nearly 49,000 counted as Level I, during the blitz June 8-10... The Level I inspection netted a higher overall pass rate, as just 3.7 percent were placed OOS. The vehicle OOS rate, however, increased slightly during Level I inspections from 22.2 percent in 2009 to 23.3 percent this year... Brake-related defects continue to be the most common reason cited for an inspector placing a vehicle out of service, with hours-of-service violations being the leading reason for sidelining a driver... Just 2.7 percent of hazmat drivers and 16.3 percent of hazmat vehicles were sidelined during Roadcheck, CVSA officials reported. That’s an improvement over the 2009 level...
