TRUCKMAKERS' NEWS * USA - Chrysler’s fleet moving to Mack tractors
Greensboro,NC,USA -Fleet Owner -Jul 12, 2010: -- Chrysler Group Transport, the auto company’s private fleet operation for parts distribution, is replacing its entire fleet of 325 Class 8 tractors with Mack Pinnacle DayCab models, according to the truck maker... The trucks are powered by Mack’s proprietary MP diesels equipped with SCR aftertreatment systems that meet the EPA 2010 emissions standards... The new truck order is part of a complete package that includes service support, parts support, financing, and technical training, according to Mack... * USA - Volvo plants ramp up EPA2010 production
Hagerstown,MD/Dublin,VA,USA -Truck News, by James Menzies -13 Jul 2010: -- Volvo Trucks North Dmerica recently invited two-day tour of its powertrain and truck plants here, where production of EPA2010-compliant trucks and engines is well underway... The effects of the recession, which decimated the global truck manufacturing industry, could still be seen -but surprisingly many of those effects were actually upgrades to the facilities... New buildings have been erected at the Hagerstown facility, including a $40-million, state-of-the-art engine lab with eight test cells, where new technologies are developed and engineers can perform such work as weighing particulate matter right down to 10/millionths of an ounce... During the downturn, Volvo continued investing in its North American facilities, to the tune of about US$150 million at its Hagerstown powertrain plant alone. * USA - Volvo, Mack celebrate 10,000 Class 8 truck orders with SCR
Greensboro,N.C.,USA -Truck News -Jul 13, 2010: -- Together, Volvo and Mack have now received more than 10,000 orders for Class 8 trucks with EPA2010-compliant emissions using selective catalytic reduction (SCR), the companies announced... The trucks boast "near-zero" emissions and fuel economy improvements of up to 5%, the companies claim...
* USA - Isuzu launches build of EPA 2010 engines for LCF medium-duties
Logan Township,NJ,USA -Fleet Owner -Jul 12, 2010: -- Isuzu Commercial Truck of America, Inc. has announced that production has begun what it calls “the U.S. market’s first and only low-cab-forward medium-duty diesel engines to meet the newest and strictest emissions standards. ... The engines are EPA 2010 and CARB HD-OBD compliant as well as Clean-Idle certified... The company said Isuzu N-Series 2011-model trucks equipped with the new powerplants have already began to roll off the line at Isuzu Motors Limited’s factory in Fujisawa, Japan and will begin arriving in U.S. dealerships in early August...
