TRUCKMAKERS NEWS * USA - Pete delivers first truck with 2010 MX engine
Denton,Texas,USA -Fleet Owner -Jun 11, 2010: -- Peterbilt Motors Co. said it celebrated yesterday a “significant and historic milestone” with the delivery of the first 2010 EPA-certified Paccar MX diesel engine. A Peterbilt Model 386 equipped with the first production MX was delivered to McClymonds Supply & Transit Co. at the truck OEM’s Denton, TX facility... The Paccar MX is available in Peterbilt Models 587, 388, 386, 384, 367 and 365. The MX engine has a horsepower range of 380hp-485hp and torque outputs up to 1,750 lb-ft with a displacement of 12.9 liters. This power range, combined with excellent fuel efficiency, high reliability, durability, lightweight design and low cost of ownership makes the MX an ideal choice for both over-the-road and vocational applications, according to Peterbilt... * Indiana - ACT ups 2010 Class 8 forecast
Columbus,IN,USA -Fleet Owner -Jun 11, 2010: -- In the latest release of its ACT North American Commercial Vehicle Outlook, ACT Research Co. has increased its 2010 forecast for Class 8 truck production by 4,500 units-- boosting its expectation of year-over-year growth to 23%... In addition, ACT has modestly increased its forecast for 2011, with year-over-year growth projected to be 62%... * Illinois trying to lure Navistar back
Chicago,ILL,USA -Chicago Beaking News -June 8, 2010: -- State officials said today they have stepped up their efforts to persuade Navistar International Corp. to renew its plans to open a new corporate headquarters in west suburban Lisle, in an effort to prevent thousands of jobs and millions of dollars from leaving Illinois... At stake are more than 7,000 direct and indirect local jobs that would pump $4.5 million annually into the local economy, according to Navistar. The company had hoped to consolidate several of its outlying offices at the Lisle site and invest $100 million in the campus... * Illinois - Navistar Reports Surprise 2Q Profit On Better Margins
Chicago,ILL,USA -Dow Jones/TWSJ -9 June 2010: -- Navistar International Corp.'s quarterly profit more than doubled from a year ago, as lower costs helped to expand profit margins on the company's commercial trucks and engines... Navistar had warned that its performance during the quarter ended April 30 would be weak as demand for trucks improves slowly after three straight slumping years pushed industry-wide sales to 50-year lows...
