TRUCKMAKERS NEWS * China - Sinotruk posts surging sales in first 3 months
Jinan,China -Xinhua/Global Times -April 13 2010: -- China's top heavy truck maker, Sinotruk, said later Monday it sold 22,154 units of heavy trucks in the first quarter this year, a year-on-year rise of 45.08 percent... The truck maker also reported a 58.75 percent increase in heavy truck production which totaled 38,000 units, said the company in a statement filed with the Shenzhen Stock Exchange... The company produced a total of 54,381 units of all kinds of trucks, including heavy ones, an increase of 66.06 percent year on year, and sold 53,915 units, up 69.07 percent, according to the statement... * Sweden - Scania surprises with strong Q1 result, Brazil boosts
Stockholm,Sweden -Reuters, by Niklas Pollard & Greg Mahlich -April 14, 2010: -- Truck maker Scania rushed out its first-quarter results ahead of schedule on Tuesday, showing strong figures that were boosted by robust demand in Brazil, its single biggest market. The Swedish firm, majority-owned by German auto giant Volkswagen, said operating profit for the first three months of the year rose to 2.13 billion Swedish crowns, up from 1.43 billion in the final quarter of last year and 506 million a year ago... Scania said last month it would raise production and bring back employees to full-time work to cater to stronger demand, especially in Brazil...
