* China - Dongfeng trucks to be assembled in Serbia this year

Shanghai,SH,China -Gasgoo -March 25, 2010: -- Serbia's truck-maker Fabrika Automobila Proboj (FAP) will start assembling China's Dongfeng trucks by the end of the year, local media reported this week... The scope of production will depend on the market, but the trucks will be competitive, since their price will be 30% lower than in other parts of Europe... The Priboj factory in southern Serbia would start to assemble Dongfeng trucks in 2010 and specifying that four models of Dongfeng's heavy-duty trucks will be produced there in the first phase... In the second phase there will be joint investment, which means the trucks, with more than 50% of components, are produced in Serbia. * China - Geely financially ready for Volvo acquisition

Shanghai,SH,China -Gasgoo, by George Gao -March 25, 2010: -- Chinese automaker Zhejiang Geely Holding Group is set to buy Swedish car brand Volvo from Ford Motor, with a final agreement to be signed by the end of this month, and the buyer has completed its fundraising for this transaction, media reported this week... A recent Financial Times report said that Ford may sign the deal with Geely as early as this weekend during the visit of Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping to Sweden. The report quoted anonymous sources as saying Geely will pay $1.8 billion for Volvo and pump in an additional $750 million as working capital... The capital needed for the acquisition will come from Chinese and European investment banks, Geely's listed arm Geely Automobile Holdings Ltd., and the government of the city where the local production of Volvo will settle down. Bank of China, China Construction Bank and Export-Import Bank of China have agreed to extend loans to Geely... In addition to nearly $2 billion it is expected to pay for the Volvo brand, Geely will need "an absolute minimum" of $1.4 billion following the acquisition of Volvo in order to continue future vehicle development, support marketing functions and fund production and distribution operation, sources said...


* Japan - Fuso now on sale in Hong Kong

Franfurt,Germany -Fleet Owner -Mar 25, 2010: -- The expansion of the Mitsubishi Fuso Canter Eco Hybrid truck market continues to grow with the announcement by parent Daimler Trucks that the vehicle is now for sale in Hong Kong... The Eco Hybrid is a light-duty truck, it features a parallel hybrid system that can reduce diesel consumption up to 30%, Mitsubisho Fuso Truck & Bus Corp. said... The first orders for the vehicle outside Japan came from Ireland’s Electricity Supply Board in October 2009. The electric utility placed an order for 10 Fuso Canter Eco Hybrids. A second order, for 25 vehicles, arrived in February from Australia’s Star Track Express...
