* Daimler Plans Product Blitz

Louisville,KY,USA -Transport Topics at MAT —25 March 2010: -- Daimler Trucks chief Andreas Renschler said Thursday, that his company is readying the largest introduction of new vehicles in its history. Over the next four years the company plans to spend 2 billion euros, about $2.65 billion, on the “biggest product launch in our history”... Daimler Trucks North America President, Martin Daum, told Transport Topics that the product plan focuses on improving fuel efficiency of its diesel engines and expanding use of compressed natural gas and liquid natural gas engines... Daum said DTNA has received close to 7,000 orders from more than 700 customers for new Class 6- 8 trucks that feature selective catalytic reduction systems...


* Kenworth adding Bendix stability system option to medium-duty models

* Cummins sees bright future as independent engine manufacturer

Louisville,KY,USA -Truck News (CAN), by James Menzies -24 March 2010: -- Cummins is projecting a bright future for its engine business despite the loss of one OEM partner and the arrival of a new competitor in Paccar products... Navistar will no longer offer Cummins power and Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks are now available with Paccar's own 13-litre MX engine, but the changing landscape is nothing new for Cummins, president Rich Freeland told a gathering of trucking industry reporters last night... On losing Navistar as a partner, Freeland said Cummins is confident it made the right decision in adopting selective catalytic reducion (SCR) for its 2010 products, even if it meant the end of its partnership with the truck maker...


* Navistar Expands Menlo Logistics Partnership. Truck maker aims to cut domestic costs with Menlo’s help on U.S. supply chain

Boyd -Mar 25, 2010: -- Heavy truck and engine maker Navistar is bringing Menlo Worldwide Logistics in to help manage its domestic as well as its global supply chain, thereby expanding their partnership to cut the manufacturer’s costs... Navistar in 2008 tapped Menlo as its lead logistics provider outside North America. Now it is extending Menlo’s role to be its broader “network manager” and help lower domestic supply costs as well... Their initial partnership has already brought annual logistics costs down 5 percent, Navistar said, and the manufacturer now aims to slice 25 percent off its supply chain spending by 2013...


* MaxxForce big bore diesels add engine brake option


Louisville,KY,USA -Fleet Owner/MAT -Mar 26, 2010: -- Navistar has increased both power and braking ability for its MaxxForce big bore diesel engines for 2010. The company made the announcement Thursday night at the Mid-America Trucking Show... MaxxForce 13 models will include two new 450-hp. offerings, one delivering 1,700 lbs.-ft. of torque and the other with multi-torque output of 1,550/1,700 lbs.-ft. There is also a 430 hp. MaxxForce 13 with multi-torque output of 1,550/1,700 lbs.-ft. and a MaxxForce 11 rated at 365 hp. with 1,250 lbs.-ft. of torque... Top ratings remain at 475 hp and 1,700 lbs.-ft. of torque for the MaxxForce 13 and 390 hp and 1,450 lbs.-ft. of torque for the MaxxForce 11... The company also announced that is MaxxForce 13 line of Advanced EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) engines, which power the International ProStar Plus linehaul tractor, the TranStar regional haul tractor and the PayStar severe service tractor, have received certification from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency... * Wraps Taken Off All-electric Commercial Pickup/Delivery Van

Torrance,CA,USA -Enviromental Leader -March 11, 2010: -- Over the past year, Enova and Freightliner have been testing a 120 kilowatt all-electric drive system with several chassis platforms, but now they are ready to accelerate plans to serve corporate fleets... The vehicle, which is geared for the commercial pickup and delivery market, is built on the FCCC MT-45 WIV chassis platform... In a test on delivery and service routes, a study shows that customers could save up to $15,000 per vehicle a year compared with traditionally powered walk-in vans... The vans use Enova’s 120kW all-electric drive system technology and are rated to haul 14,000 to 19,500 pounds. Powered by Tesla Motors lithium ion batteries, the chassis is 100 percent electric, including its HVAC system... The van has a 100-mile driving range per charge. It takes six to eight hours to recharge, FCCC says... The vehicle should enter full production in the first quarter of 2011, after which it will undergo testing with some “major” U.S...
