Warrenville,ILL,USA -Fleet Owner, by David Cullen -Mar 16, 2010: -- The exit of GMC from the medium-duty truck segment last year and the withdrawal of Daimler Truck North America’s (DTNA) Sterling marque that began in late ’08 is driving the remaining truck OEMs serving Class 3-7 fleet owners to seek to grow their own share of this lucrative market. That was more than obvious at The Work Truck Show held in St. Louis last week by the National Truck Equipment Assn... Speaking to the media at the introduction of two significant medium-duty products-- the International TerraStar truck and MaxxForce 7 engine-- Jack Allen, president of Navistar’s North American Truck Group, remarked that the OEM has continued to invest in the medium-duty market “while others have cut product development or scaled back on marketing”...


* Mack Trucks finding great success overseas

The company said it held 30.8% of the market share of vehicles shipped outside the U.S., Canada and Mexico... Mack has been able to tap the global expertise of its parent company, the Volvo Group... Volvo has helped Mack’s growth through infrastructure, logistics and dealer support as well as helping expand financing opportunities. Another key, the company said, is that many of Mack’s trucks complement Volvo Construction Equipment’s business, allowing customers to fill all their needs through one company... * Oshkosh Defense to Move Into New Facility, Hire 190

Warren,ILL,USA -Trailer Body Builders -Mar 17, 2010: -- Oshkosh Defense will move current operations from its existing leased Warren office into the new facility and plans to hire up to 190 new employees locally. This new facility will provide advanced system technical support and systems engineering for the Defense division’s work on the U.S. Army medium and heavy truck fleets. Oshkosh Corporation anticipates a capital investment in the new site of approximately $6.5 million over a five-year period... The facility will support Oshkosh Defense’s work on the five-year Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV) rebuy contract, which the Army reaffirmed on Feb. 12 and its work on the Army’s Family of Heavy Tactical Vehicles (FHTV), including the Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck (HEMTT), Heavy Equipment Transporter (HET) and Palletized Load System (PLS)...
