Warrenville,ILL,USA -Fleet Owner, by Sean Kilcarr -Feb 10, 2010: -- A new partnership between Advance Transit Dynamics (ATD) and truck OEM Navistar under the SuperTruck program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) will seek ways to improve the entire aerodynamic profile of tractor-trailers as a single, integrated unit... Under the agreement, announced at the Technology & Maintenance Council’s 2010 annual meeting in Tampa this week, the two companies will share a $37.3 million grant under the DOE’s SuperTruck program, which aims to see a 50% improvement in freight efficiency for on-highway Class 8 trucks, measured in ton-miles per gallon... Warrenville,ILL,USA -Truck News (CAN) -9 Feb 2010: -- A new partnership will allow Navistar to build natural gas-powered International MaxxForce 13 engines for the North American market, the company has announced... Navistar inked a concept development agreement with Clean Air Power which will result in a MaxxForce 13 engine that runs off natural gas, according to the company... The natural gas-powered MaxxForce will initially be marketed to the regional haul tractor market with hopes it can run 400 miles between fills...
* Paccar to use FSX DPF cleaning machine
Renton,WASH,USA -Truck News (CAN) -12 Feb 2010: -- Kenworth and Peterbilt dealers have chosen the FSX diesel particulate filter (DPF) cleaning machine to service their customers' particulate filters... They say the FSX machine gets DPFs at least 9% cleaner than other machines the companies looked at... The FSX cleaning machine cleans both ends and each cell of the filter, which can contain up to 6,000 individual cells. Paccar was particularly impressed by the filter's TrapTester 7, an air flow test bench that tests a filter before and after cleaning to determing the extent of the ash build-up...

* Ford Introduces Electric Transit Connect at Chicago Show
Chicago,ILL,USA -Transport Topics -9 Feb 2010: -- Ford Motor Co. introduced an all-electric version of the Transit Connect van at the Chicago Auto Show on Tuesday... The all-electric van has a targeted range of up to 80 miles per full charge, and will be rechargeable using either 240-volt or standard 120-volt outlets... The electric drive system is supplied by Azure Dynamics, Oak Hill, Mich... Production is expected to begin in late 2010, Ford said... The company also introduced a taxi version of the small van.
