* Brazil - MAN boosts truck output in
Frankfurt,Germany -The Financial Times (UK), by Daniel Schäfer -January 20 2010: -- MAN is to raise capacity at its Brazilian truck plant by up to a third to meet a rapidly rising demand, in a move that illustrates the fast economic recovery of the world's largest developing countries... Antonio Roberto Cortes, president of MAN Latin America, told the Financial Times, the German conglomerate would reintroduce a third shift at its Resende plant in the Rio de Janeiro county... The move will shift capacity from 50,000 to up to 72,000 trucks a year and lead to the creation of 700 jobs at the plant, which currently employs 4,700. It came as Latin America's largest truck-maker posted record sales in December, spurred by government incentives for trucks and buses and growing consumer demand in Brazil...
* China - JAC to Form Light Vehicle Base in Shandong

Upon the plan that has been approved by its shareholders' meeting, the to-be-built entity will hit an annual production capacity of 100,000 light trucks, within a construction period of two years. This move can help the Shanghai-listed company further build up its presence in the light car sector and reap more profits, pointed out Gao Li, an analyst of Huachuang Securities Brokerage Co., Ltd... * Russia - Mikhail Prokhorov makes sensational offer to truck maker Yarovit
Moscow,Russia -RIA Novosti, by Norilsk Nickel -20 Jan 2010: -- Russian multi-billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov plans to launch mass production of inexpensive electric cars in Russia... Kommersant said that Prokhorov, ranked by Russia's Finans magazine as the country's richest man with an estimated wealth of $14.1 billion in 2008, plans to produce a Golf-class sedan with a target price of about 8,800 euros ($12,500) in partnership with the St. Petersburg-based truck maker Yarovit... The project of electric car production will be the first project of this kind in Russia, which is seeking to rid its dependence on raw material exports and switch to a knowledge-based, innovative economy...
