Engine Brakes * USA - Panel says hands off to banning their use
Aurora,COL,USA -Aurora Advocate, by Ken Lahmers -14 Oct 2009: -- Prohibiting drivers of large trucks to use engine brakes in the city appears to be headed nowhere... The issue appeared on last week's safety/service/utilities committee agenda and was briefly discussed, but did not gain support... Councilman-panel chairman Jim Vaca said many residents are opposed to engine brakes because the noise... They are used as a safety device to slow down big trucks as they descend sloping highways... Fire Chief, David Barnes, said the city's large fire trucks have their brakes set on "high" all the time, and he, too, believes the devices are an asset...
