TRUCKER STORY * Canada - Truck mural a father's tribute to son killed in Afghanistan
Though his son is gone, Bouthillier said, he wanted to show everyone he still believes in what his son was doing
Hearst,ONT,Canada -Canadian Press, by Allison Jones -21 Sept 2009: -- After losing his son in Afghanistan, Raynald Bouthillier felt grief but also pride, and thought nothing less than a grand gesture would be a fitting tribute to the young soldier... Trooper Jack Bouthillier was killed alongside Trooper Corey Hayes, both of the Royal Canadian Dragoons, in a roadside bomb blast March 20, an attack in which three other soldiers were injured... Bouthillier's beaming face is now part of a wrap-around mural on one of the trucks in the fleet for his transport company, dedicated to Bouthillier and all the soldiers in Afghanistan. Desert scenes featuring soldiers, tanks and helicopters also adorn the vehicle... It's something his son would have loved, said Raynald Bouthillier... On the back of the truck's cab is a list naming all of the Canadian soldiers killed in Afghanistan, and there is room for more. The death toll since the Afghanistan mission began is 131 soldiers, and Bouthillier said he will continue to add names...
