REGULATIONS * Canada - Tail light rule angers trucking CEO
Armour: Vehicles will run into trouble outside region
Moncton,New Brunswick,Canada -The Chronicle Herald, by TOM PETERS -Sep 19, 2009: -- A provincial regulation requiring tail lights to be mounted up high on long combination vehicles will render these vehicles useless beyond the New Brunswick-Quebec border, and Wes Armour doesn’t like it... The president and CEO of Armour Transportation Systems said the addition of the lights on the back of the trailers does not make the vehicle any safer and Nova Scotia and New Brunswick are the only two provinces in Canada that require them... The trucking executive, who said the lights are not used in any American state either, can’t understand the logic behind the regulation when they are not required on a single 16-metre trailer, a container chassis or flatbed trailers which have lights on the bottom... The trucking industry’s position is being addressed through the Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association... (Photo from hankstruckpictures)
