* Finland - Truck Maker Gets Boost - Military Sales Raise Export Hopes for Finnish Firm
Helsinki,Finland -Defense News, by GERARD O'DWYER -10 August 2009: ... Sisu Auto custom-builds big, rugged, heavy-duty trucks for demanding outdoor industries such as construction, forestry and road maintenance... These days, the company's military unit, Sisu Defence, is riding a surge in orders for trucks built to haul troops and equipment over rough terrain. The upswing has led the parent company to forecast a 30 percent increase in group revenues by next year... The company's order book has benefited significantly from contracts awarded by the Finnish Armed Forces (FAF) for air defense and protected off-road vehicles that were announced last spring. Finland will invest $691 million to update its national air defense network, the hub of which will be a new midrange radar system...
