* Daimler Truck Financial Launches Trucking Industry's First-Ever Dealer Training for Finance and Insurance Products

* Freightliner Custom Chassis walk-in vans now eligible for hybrid retrofit
Gaffney,S.C.,USA -Truck News -4 Aug 2009: -- Walk-in vans built by Freightliner Custom Chassis (FCC) can now be retrofit with hybrid-electric drivetrains, according to the company... The retrofit program began last November and so far about 100 MT-45 walk-in van chassis have been fitted with hybrid components, the company says. It allows fleets to capitalize on the lower emissions and fuel consumption offered by hybrids without the cost of purchasing an entirely new vehicle... The retrofit program involves removing old powertrain equipment and replacing it with the Eaton hybrid-electric system...

Kenworth took top honours in the over-the-road, pickup-and-delivery and dealer service categories. The J.D. Power and Associates awards are based on interviews with customers who evaluate a supplier’s performance in the areas of vehicle performance, quality, cost of ownership, warranty and dealer service...
* ArvinMeritor Reports 3Q Loss; Will Sell Wheels Business. Plans $180 Million Sale of Unit to Brazilian Firm
Troy,MICH,USA -Transport Topics -4 Aug 2009: -- Truck components maker ArvinMeritor said Tuesday it lost $162 million, or $2.23 per share, in its fiscal third quarter, compared with a profit of $44 million, or 60 cents per share, a year ago... Sales for the quarter ended June 30 fell about 47% to $993 million, the company said in a statement... Commercial vehicle sales were $683 million, down 49% from a year ago... ArvinMeritor also said it would sell its wheel business to Iochpe-Maxion, S.A., a Brazilian manufacturer of wheels and frames for commercial vehicles. It said it plans to close the $180 million sale by Sept 23...
