* Sweden - Truck maker Volvo 'not interested' in Volvo Cars

Volvo Group, one-time parent of Ford’s Volvo Cars, rejects the rumors that it plans to bring the auto maker back to Sweden

Stockholm,Sweden -Swedish Wire, by Johan Nylander -17 August 2009: -- Volvo Group and its chief Leif Johanssen. has been said to be backing up a Swedish consortium that have launched a bid to buy the loss-making Swedish automaker from US giant Ford to stop it from falling into Chinese hands... Business daily Dagens Industri said Saturday that a group of engineers was behind a consortium registered last month under the name of Jakob AB, adding that it was backed by Volvo Group chief Leif Johanssen... Ford acquired Volvo in 1999 for $6.45 billion from Volvo AB...


* Ireland - Interim examiner for truck maker

Hill of Down, Enfield,County Kildare,Ireland -RTE business -17 August 2009: -- An interim examiner has been appointed to a truck manufacturing company based in County Kildare... An application before the High Court heard that Tony Gray & Sons Ltd had debts of more than €4m... The company, based in Hill of Down, Enfield, County Kildare, manufacturers bodies for trucks in the cattle and refrigeration trade. It employs 15 people. The court heard that two break-ins and a fire which destroyed the premises last year led to its current difficulties... Granting an interim examiner to the company, Mr Justice, John Hedigan, said it was clear that an examiner would be in the best interests of the company, creditors and employees. He adjourned the case to a full hearing of the petition next Monday...
