TRUCKING INDUSTRY * Australia - ATA NSW applauds delay in truck registration charge increases

Sydney,NSW,Australia -Road Freight News -15 July 2009: -- ATA NSW, has welcomed the decision by Roads Minister, Michael Daley, to delay increases in the state’s truck registration charges until 1 January 2010... The increases were due to take effect on 1 July, but following discussions with industry groups, including ATA NSW, Minister Daley has deferred them by six months... Under the changes, most heavy vehicles will see a 3.2 per cent increase in registration charges... Some larger trucks will pay higher increases. The registration charges on B-doubles, which are prime movers with two linked semi-trailers, will rise from about $9,000 to over $12,000 per year... The Manager of ATA NSW, Jill Lewis, said the delay will be welcomed by the whole NSW trucking industry...

Civitrans adss Hino 700 Series to fleet, setting record

Melbourne,VIC,Australia -Road Freight News -14 July 2009: -- Victorian civil construction transport company Civitrans has expanded its heavy duty fleet, adding another Hino 700 Series to its range of current models... The Civitrans’ fleet is now made up of 22 Hino 700 Series trucks, which Hino says sets the record for the biggest 700 Series fleet in Australia... Civitrans managing director Anthony Condello, said the truck is capable of meeting the work requirements involved in construction, and the 700 Series, in addition to being a very robust unit, also features impressive fuel efficiency...
