RULES * Ireland - New permit to affect Irish haulage industry
Dublin,Ireland -HGV -2 June 2009: -- New permitting rules that directly affect non-nationals looking for work in the road haulage industry came into force on Monday, June 1... The rule changes apply primarily to first-time entrants to the labour market, and directly affect HGV drivers amongst others... Under the new regime, permits will not be granted for jobs paying less than €30,000 per annum... The period of time that employers have to advertise their vacancies will also be increased under the new regime... Haulage companies who employ non-EU permit holding HGV drivers, whose permit was issued on or after June 1, will have to re-advertise the position before a new permit can be reissued to ensure there is still no suitable EEA candidate for the post...
