Lorrys' Inspection * UK - VOSA targets unsafe loads
London,UK -HGV (Ireland) -14 June 2009: -- Checks carried out by the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) in UK last month show that seven out of 10 loads are unsafe... During May several spot checks were conducted on HGV's in a joint initiative between the Health and Safety Executive and VOSA. The results were that the majority of loads needed remedial action to make them safe for drivers and loading staff... The amount of HGVs, which failed to pass the spot checks, surprised both organisations conducting the checks. These figures are all the more significant, when you taken into account the 2,000 injuries which have occurred in the last three years on UK roads, due to cargo falling from vehicles...
