Congestion Pricing * USA - L.A. County Considers for 110 and 10 Freeways
Los Angeles,CAL,USA -The Los Angeles Times, by Dan Weikel -9 June 2009: -- Los Angeles County officials are considering adding congestion pricing to the Interstate 10 and Interstate 110 freeways, to be imposed on solo drivers on the freeways' proposed high-occupancy toll lanes. The tentative plans are to charge 25 cents a mile at times of lowest demand and up to $1.40 a mile at times of higher demand, while vehicles with more than one person would not be affected... Like other tollways in Southern California, officials plan to use congestion-based pricing -- tolls that rise and fall in direct relation to the volume of traffic -- to keep individual motorists, carpools, van pools and buses in the high-occupancy lanes at a minimum speed of 45 mph, even during rush hour...
