NS, FedEx unhappy with legislation that would allow employees to keep guns in cars while working

Montgomery,AL,USA -The Journal of Commerce, by William B.Cassidy -Apr 1, 2009: -- Workers in Alabama — including transportation workers — may soon be able to bring guns to work, as long as they store them in locked vehicles... Some transportation companies aren’t happy about that, the Montgomery Advertiser reports... The state legislature is considering two bills that would prohibit employers from implementing policies that prevent gun permit holders from keeping guns locked in their cars while at work. The bills, backed by the National Rifle Association, are similar to laws that have already been adopted in several states... Alabama already allows licensed gun owners to keep a weapon locked in their cars, but many businesses prohibit firearms on their premises — including company parking lots... The bills would make having such a policy a misdemeanor...
