TRUCKING INDUSTRY NEWS * USA - Some Jacksonville trucking companies will close in the recession

Jacksonville,FL,USA -The Jacksonville Business Journal, by Mark Szakonyi -6 Feb 2009: -- With less freight being moved and signs that business will slow further, the road ahead for many logistics companies is rocky if not treacherous... Those companies that have failed to diversify will likely find it more the latter. Call it a shame or economic evolution, but there will be fewer logistics companies around when the industry comes out of the recession... Within the past 18 months, about 5 percent to 6 percent of demand disappeared. Many logistics companies were able to keep running due to low fuel costs in the last several months, said Henry Gerkens, Landstar System Inc.’s president and CEO...
