Minneapolis,MN,USA -WCCO/TV, by Jeanette Trompeter -29 Jan 2009: -- New research shows that approximately 16,000 injured every week in accidents on driveways and in parking lots, with some of these accidents resulting in fatalities. Automakers have started to address some of these problems with new technology... In fact, some of the safety features work even when the vehicle is standing still. Backup cameras are the best way to avoid backing over children and others, and several carmakers currently offer them... Meanwhile, some new cars have power windows that reverse when they run into an object, such as a child's hand or head... Finally, a growing number of bigger vehicles are now fitted with powered rear lift gates to access the trunk. The safest will reopen if they hit anything or anyone...Labels: technonews
