Charlottesville,VA,USA -Newswise -11 Feb 2009: -- Researchers in China report that hardware from discarded electronics can be recycled into an additive that is used to strengthen asphalt paving material... The researchers say the new recycling process can convert obsolete circuitboards into an asphalt "modifier" that creates stronger, cheaper, longer lasting, and more environmentally friendly asphalt... The new recycling method separates the glass fibers and plastic resins found in circuitboards to create a fine, metal-free powder that, when mixed into asphalt during laboratory tests, produced a stronger paving material that is less likely to soften at high temperatures...
