Some Vermont lawmakers are working on a plan to allow big rigs on the Interstate
Montpelier,Vermont,USA -WCAX -February 16, 2009: -- ... Federal law prohibits trucks weighing 90,000 pounds from using Interstates 89 and 91... That forces many big rigs to use state roads in Vermont, because the weight limit on them is higher. Many towns say local roads are taking a beating and having those big trucks moving through town is a safety hazard... Lawmakers are proposing only fining truck drivers $1 if their rig is overweight on the federal level, but under the state regulation... Lawmakers hope more truckers would opt for the Interstate to save time and money...Labels: trucks fines
