USA -Bulk Transporter -Jan 5, 2009: -- Increased 2008 sales to the US military drove Navistar International Corp annual revenue up 20 percent to $14.7 billion, helping to produce a profit for the year and nearing record sales, according to Navistar information... “We are controlling our own destiny by growing our business in military sales and commercial truck revenue outside the United States and Canada,” Daniel C Ustian, Navistar chairman, president, and chief executive officer stated in a news release. “And we expect to develop a sustainable business of approximately $2 billion a year selling military vehicles and parts to the US and its allies.”... The 2008 revenue produced near record earnings for the company, excluding asset impairment charges and record revenues for the fiscal year 2008, which ended October 31. Sales were up from $12.3 billion a year ago, according to company information...
* Kenworth delivers hybrid tractor to Carlile Transportation

The Kenworth pickup and delivery hybrid tractor will serve the company’s drayage operations at the Port of Tacoma... Hybrid tractor is powered by the PACCAR PX-6 engine and features an integral transmission-mounted motor/generator, a frame-mounted 340-volt battery pack, and a dedicated power management system.
* Vectren buys six hybrid bucket trucks
Henderson,KY,USA -The Henderson Gleaner/Courier Press, by Dan Shaw -January 8, 2009: -- Less noise and pollution are the promised benefits of new bucket trucks Vectren Corp. introduced today... The trucks are hybrids, meaning they run on both standard diesel fuel and electricity from a lithium battery. Vectren has added five of them to its fleet of about 900 vehicles. A sixth truck is on the way... The trucks were made by a partnership formed between International Truck and Engine Corp. and Eaton Corp. They cost about $180,000 each, which is about $40,000 more than a standard truck, according to Carl Chapman, Vectren president and chief operating officer...
