SPEED LIMITERS * Canada - Not planned for long-haul rigs in Nova Scotia

Halifax,NS,CAN -The Chronicle Herald, by TOM PETERS -Jan 8,2009: -- Long-haul truckers won’t be harnessed by speed-limiting devices on Nova Scotia highways any time soon, says a government official... Ontario and Quebec have legislated mandatory limiters on the large carriers for economic, environmental and safety reasons, but Nova Scotia hasn’t made any plans to follow suit... A limiter or governor is technology built into a truck’s engine that limits fuel injection when the truck reaches a pre-set speed... Speed-limiting devices used in Ontario and Quebec will keep truck speeds from going faster than 105 kilometres per hour... Implementation of the program has met with mixed response...
