TWIC * USA - Waterfront credentials to be required starting Wednesday
New Bedford,MA,USA -The South Coast Mass. Today, by BECKY W. EVANS -October 13, 2008: -- Time is running out for port workers who are required to carry new identification credentials for access to certain waterfront facilities... As of Wednesday, truck drivers, vendors, contractors and other workers will need to carry Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC) to access certain port facilities that are regulated by the Maritime Transportation Security Act and the Security and Accountability for Every Port Act... The Coast Guard has announced that it will conduct routine spot checks, both announced and unannounced, after the deadline to make sure that owners and operators of MTSA-regulated facilities are complying with the TWIC regulations...
