REPORT * Denmark - City lorry ban falls through
A new report says plans for a lorry ban in the inner city will not make the streets safer for cyclists
Copenhagen,Sealand,Denmark -The Copenhagen Post -6 Oct 2008: -- Copenhagen City Council is dropping its plans to implement a ban on large lorries in the inner city after a new report found it would end up increasing the danger for bicyclists outside the area, reports Berlingske Tidende newspaper... According to the independent report, banning lorries over 18 tons from the inner city would result in truckers driving outside the area, having to make nearly 400,000 more right-hand turns each year to reach their destinations. Right-hand turns are the leading cause of deaths of cyclists in traffic...
