City of Panama,Panama -The Journal of Commerce /Traffic World -6 Oct 2008: -- The Panama Canal Authority has released a request for proposals soliciting bids for the third of four dry excavation projects, marking the next phase in the waterway's multibillion-dollar expansion project... The project will help to create a critical access channel linking the new Pacific locks with the Canal's existing Gaillard Cut... The scope of work will include the excavation, removal and disposal of 8 million cubic meters of material. Moreover, the RFP calls for demolishing the Cocoli Bridge and clearing 190 hectares of unexploded ordnances -- remnants from former United States training facilities in the Canal Zone...
