USA -Fleet Owner -Sep 8, 2008: -- Con-way Freight is expanding its employee wellness program after positive initial results and feedback, the company said. The company plans to make the program available to a total of 6,400 employees in 21 states by the end of 2008. The program, which is provided in collaboration with Wellness Coaches USA, was launched as a pilot program early in 2007... The carrier will also launch a 10-week weight loss competition throughout its network of service locations, awarding clothing store gift certificates to the top three winners in each region around the U.S... According to Con-way, as a result of the program workplace injuries and workers compensation costs decreased 80% and lost work days were cut by 75% at pilot locations. The company said that 831 employees have lost a combined 6,269 lbs. while 170 quit smoking and 669 reduced their blood pressure...
